Job Title: Bookkeeping Virtual Assistant (VA)

About the Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Bookkeeping Virtual Assistant to join our remote team. The ideal candidate will support our financial operations by maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records. This role offers an excellent opportunity to work in a flexible environment and gain industry-specific knowledge, particularly in short-term rental management.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and update financial records, including ledgers, accounts payable/receivable, and bank reconciliations
- Process invoices, payments, and expense reports promptly and accurately
- Manage bookkeeping tasks using industry-standard tools (see Tools below)
- Prepare financial reports and summaries for management review
- Monitor and record all financial transactions and ensure accuracy and compliance
- Assist with payroll preparation and tax documentation, if applicable
- Communicate effectively with vendors, clients, and internal teams regarding financial matters
- Support month-end and year-end closing processes
- Identify discrepancies and recommend corrective actions
- Maintain confidentiality and data security at all times
Required Bookkeeping Tools Experience
- QuickBooks Online
- Xero
- FreshBooks
- Wave Accounting
- Zoho Books
- Microsoft Excel / Google Sheets (advanced proficiency)
(Experience with any of the above tools is required; proficiency in multiple tools is a plus.)
Qualifications and Certifications
- Proven bookkeeping experience or relevant financial/accounting background
- Certification in bookkeeping or accounting is a strong plus, such as:
- Certified Bookkeeper (CB) by the American Institute of Professional Bookkeepers (AIPB)
- Certified Public Bookkeeper (CPB)
- QuickBooks Certified User
(Any relevant accounting certification or diploma)
- Strong numerical and analytical skills
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Good communication skills in English
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
